Our Blue Ribbons 

 

The blue ribbons on stage signify that we believe our orchestra has enough importance to the community to be kept intact, with empty positions filled and salaries secured. In wearing them, we are asking our management to not overlook the heart of the Grand Rapids Symphony: its musicians. One cannot say, "Our symphony is an integral and indispensable part of Grand Rapids and West Michigan...", as our CEO has recently written, without realizing that the musicians and their positions are also integral and indispensable. The musicians are united in promoting our vision, which is that with innovative thinking, we can move the orchestra confidently ahead, along with a growing Grand Rapids.
